Highlight Films Israel: Tips for filming in the West Bank

For filmmakers and journalists coming to Israel and Palestine for the first time, it's not always clear how one can cross safely between the two entities. Here are a few tips that can help you plan your journey:
In general there are two main areas in the West Bank: AREA A territories are in full administrative and legal control of the Palestinian Authority. These areas are usually enclosed by checkpoints, which are manned usually only upon leaving AREA A and entering the Israeli controlled areas.
All non A areas (which used to be called B, C etc.') are under the authority of the Israeli military, the Israeli police or other Israeli Authorities.
Tourists / journalists can freely go to Palestine (AREA A) and come back, but they must carry their passports with them at all times.
Cars, including taxis, carrying Palestinian license plates are not allowed to enter Israel; however they are allowed to travel most roads of the West Bank. Israeli cars are allowed to enter AREA A.
In both Israel and Palestine, it is highly recommended to check in advance if the locations you are planning to film at require prior film permits
