Israel camera crews and broadcast services: Pope Francis to visit Israel & Palestine in May 2014
Pope Francis visit to Israel in May 2014: After conflicting reports from Israeli, Jordanian and Italian sources, it seems that the visit will take place in the 4th week of May. It will include a mass in the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem.
Highlight Films is getting ready to provide news production services in Israel and Palestine for visiting crews and news departments all over the world.
Our crews will be in the locations to be visited by the Pope: Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Nazareth (which now seems to be excluded fron the locations list of the visit) and other locations TBD.

Jerusalem and Bethlehem: Christmas and the New Year events
The Catholic Church, as well the Greek-Catholics, the Armenian-Catholics and the Franciscans, are holding special ceremonies and processions for Christmas. Here is a detailed list of the planned events in Bethlehem and Jerusalem.
The Church of Nativity in Bethlehem is the center for the city's Christmas celebrations. The streets of Bethlehem are already decorated for the holiday, and the midnight Mass in the Nativity Church will be attended by thousands of visitors from Palestine, Israel and abroad.
Our camera crews will cover some of the events in Jerusalem and Bethlehem before and during the celebrations. On Christmas Eve, Christmas day and New Year's Eve we will have a camera position and an uplink station in Bethlehem, adjacent to the Church of Nativity.

Perfect weather conditions for filming - all this week
The massive storm has subsided and left Israel with excellent filming weather: crispy clear skies, excellent visibility and white background of the Judean hills with their newly aquired white peaks. These weather ocnditions will remain in the next few days, and we plan to film both landscapes and aerial footage with drones, as long as we enjoy these great filming conditions.

3D HD Video production in Israel
In 2010 we have begun a new, unprecedented venture: Two camera crews, equipped with the latest 3D video equipment, began filming locations in Israel and the West Bank in 3D. Our post production department is in . charge of editing and finalizing the video clips
This phase follows a long process of learning and upgrading systems from full HD to 3D-HD. Our mission is to excel in the area of 3D production, and to offer producing 3D video projects.

Highlight Films provides full solutions to 3D-HD video shoots in Israel and the West Bank. In addition to the Production Services we are providing to all our customers, we offer top of the line HD camera sets, stereoscopic 3D rigs and all necessary crew and equipment for 3D HD video.
2D HD filming in Israel is possible by either parallel rigs or by mirror-based rigs, such as the P+S Technik rigs. As of The highest-quality 3D HD solution we can offer is based on two Sony F65 cameras on a stereoscopic mirror rig, or two RED Epic cameras on a stereo rig.
With new cameras and accessories being available in the international markets, we continue to master the newest and best ways to produce 3D HD footage in the spectacular locations and scenery of Jerusalem and other parts of Israel.

Extreme weather conditions in Israel
Israel braces for a wave of extreme weather in the next 72 hours. Our camera crews are on standby in Jerusalem and Bethlehem, planning to film some beautiful visual materials of snow in Jerusalem and Bethlehem, in addition to the beautiful shots of snow in Bethlehem (see below) we filmed a couple of years ago.

Production of aerial filming in Israel and Palestine
We are proud of the aerial productions we have completed over the years. Filming from the air is complicated, costly and given to circumstances beyond our control - heat, wind, haze to mention a few of them. Our answer to these challenges is Experience: our years of experience in producing aerial productions in Israel.
We have coordinated aerial shoots for feature films, news reports, documentary films, corporate and sales videos. We film for commercial and public organizations in Israel on a monthly basis, and we produced aerial shoots in Israel for our American, Canadian, French, German, British and Japanese customers and more.
Our aerial production team is ready to take any professional challenge, like we did with the filming of Jerusalem 3D IMAX in 2011: It was the first time a professional IMAX SPACECAM camera set was shipped to Israel, The camera was carried by a twin engine helicopter, with great success.

There are two traditional ways of taking professional aerial shots, and one new and exciting way... In the last decades, the use of light airplanes and helicopters for aerial filming resulted in the development of many systems, tools and methodics based on experience. We continue using helicopter and light airplanes on a regular basis, but there is a new kind in town: the drone.
Primarily developed for military uses, camera-carrying drones have been introduced to the professional video industry in the last three years. We have been there from the start, testing, experimenting, filming and learning how to do it better. We have impressive show reels filmed by various drones, and our extensive work load allows us to get better results for reasonable costs.
Drones are also known as UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), hexacopters, quadcopters, octocopters - pending on the number of rotors they use. They are the best solution for news, documentary and corporate shoots: filming with drones allow us to take shots no helicopter or airplane can take: vertical lift from the ground to 1,000 ft., descending from the sky to the ground, sweeping dolly movements, seen as if the camera is rolling on virtual tracks...
The unmanned aerial vehicles we use are equipped with full HD DSLR and provide excellent HD footage.
They can fly and film at any altitude, from 4 ft. to 3,000 ft. HD Footage is recorded on storage cards and can be viewed online on a ground monitor. The results are spectacular.
